Introduction:

A. Text: Matthew 16:13-19

1. It was important who Jesus was.

2. It was important who the people thought He was.

3. What the people thought about Jesus was known.

4. The people were wrong; but what was revealed was right.

5. Jesus knew who He was, also.

B. Who Are You?

1. Who do men say that you are?

2. What do you say about the identity of one another?

3. Do you know who you are?

4. What is the Bible answer to the question?

I. Sons of God through Faith - Galatians 3:26-29

A. Because baptized into Christ

B. Clothed yourselves with Christ

C. One in Christ Jesus by Faith and Baptism - Eph 4:4

D. Unity with Christ: the result of becoming a Christian - 1 Cor 12:27

E. Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise

II. God’s Fellow-Workers - 1 Cor 3:6-9

A. God’s Field –the place where God works - 1 Cor 3:9; Eph 2:10

B. God’s Building -9

1. God’s Building –Holy Temple - 1 Cor 3:16-17

2. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit - 1 Cor 3:19-20

III. A chosen race, ... a people of God’s own possession - 1 Peter 2:9

A. With a view to redemption - Eph 1:14; Col 1:13-14

B. “Who has saved us” - 2 Tim 1:9

C. “That He might redeem us” - Titus 2:14

D. “The children of God;” not a denomination or sect - Gal 3:26

E. But you are. . . a holy nation, - 1 Peter 2:9-12

1. Blameless and innocent, children of God - Phil 2:15

2. "You are the salt of the earth” - Matt 5:13

3. The light of the world - Matt 5:14-16

4. Formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord - Eph 5:6-12

Conclusion "If you abide in My word, {then} you are truly disciples of Mine.” - John 8:31
