Who may be a worshipper of God? He who has clean hands and a pure heart! But, what does that mean, exactly?!
Texts: Psalm 24

sincere faith.” - 1 Tim 1:5
I. A Pure Heart begins with Purity Of Understanding And Faith
A. Ps 119:130 “The unfolding of Thy words gives light”
B. Ps 119:104 “From Thy precepts I get understanding”
D. Prov 2: 6; 4:5 From the Lord’s mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
E. Not understanding the Scriptures makes one mistaken - Matt 22:29

II. A Pure Heart involves Sincerity of our Personal Faith. - James 4:8
III. A Pure Heart is one Motivated by Love
A. The goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart… - 1 Tim 1:5
B. The greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart - Mark 12:28-31
C. The second is: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.- Mark 12:28-31
D. Obeying the commandments to love is “much more than all burnt offerings and
sacrifices.” - Mark 12:32- 34
E. Love Motivates Behavior toward others. - Rom 14:15
F. Love Then Produces Edification - 1 Cor 8:1
G. Love determines Behavior and Attitude - 1 Cor 13:4-8
H. Love does great Spiritual things - 1 Pet 4:8
I. Therefore, “the goal of our instruction is love…” - 1 Tim 1:5
IV. A Pure Heart Has Pure Emotional Responses
A. Self control involves both morality and emotional control
1. Self-control preached - Acts 24:25
2. Self-control required for success - 1 Cor 9:25
3. Self-control is part of the fruit of the spirit - Gal 5:23
B. Admonitions to self-control Titus 1:8; Titus 2:2
C. Emotional responses, yet without sin - Eph 4:26
D. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ - 2 Cor 10:5
V. A Pure Heart means Purity of Will
A. We must do the will of the Father - Matt 7:21
B. Jesus is our Example - John 4:34; 5:30
C. Let God’s will transform our wills - Rom 12:2
D. God’s will is done from the heart - Eph 6:6
E. Our Reward comes after we have done God’s will - Heb 10:36; 1 Pet 4:2,6;
1 John 2:17
